338 Edge recoil

I was wondering what the recoil of a .338 Edge rifle that weighed 12-13lbs. w/ a muzzle brake, shooting 300gr. MK @ 2800 would feel like. I know this is not a scientific question; but would it be less than my Tikka T3 Lite 300wsm w/ scope shooting 180's ?

308 Win with 168 gr in same weight rifle, hardly anything at all really. This is greatly dependant on the muzzle brake. Needs to be a partition style brake such as the Defensive Edge or Holland.

Recoil is of no concern at all with the Edge.

Hi, I own a 338edge, 18lb, with muzzle brake, shooting 300SMK.
All i can say is I can shoot all day without feeling the recoil, with very tight grip, or moderat grip, or firm grip, or just lose grip.
YES I TRIED THEM ALL, TO SEE HOW WELL THE MUZZLEBRAKE WORKS.
All I can say, Rick did a great job, on his muzzle brake. (some similar with Defensive Edge one).

So don;t get scared by 338 Edge Calibers. It is a pleasure to shoot with, with proper muzzlebrake.

big caliber heavy rifles do more of a hard shuv. how is the tikka recoil to you? can you shoot say 1/2 a box at the bench and not have flinch? whats the total it weights? 8lbs. my 2cts here but with your concerns maybe you should stay away from buying one until you shoot some other rifles.

I can handle my Tikka T3 Lite just fine. I also have a Sako TRGS (M995) in 300 wm. ...lousy recoil pad. They are about the limit that I want to use for extended shooting. So I just wanted to get an idea of what the recoil was like on an Edge as I described. I recently sold my 1938 .375 H&H mag. which is the biggest rifle I have fired. Sold for a nice profit...I might add. It was a collector piece not a shooter for me. I've got a 280 Accumark & a 280 Ack. Imp on a Rem 700. custom set-up......I've shot plenty of rifles; just not a 338 Edge or 338 Lapua class rifle. I ain't scared! Just a simple question on recoil w/ a brake. I'm not crazy about the extra noise w/ a brake. So I'm sure hearing protection is a must even when hunting. thanks,Soren
