I vote 338RUM since you are so limited by your magazine length. Going to the Edge with the bullets crammed deep won't gain you much.

Brass isn't an issue for me. With a simple size and trim you can use any of the brass mentioned above.

So what would be an ideal seating "range" for the .338 edge? I can sell my bottom metal and get the next largest size which is the largest made which is CIP length 3.850 which is the bottom metal setup that requires butchering up the bottom of the receiver for proper feeding. Would this be the best way to go for the edge?

Hey Shawn carlock. Could you give me some info and advice on this issue since you are the expert, per say? I want a weapon platform that is capable of consistent one mile accuracy and terminal performance and dead on repeatability everytime as long as the shooter does their part! I want the weapon platform to be able to outperform me at my best!!! What bottom metal should I go with, 3.775" or 3.850"? Should I have my smith chamber it with a lot of freebore similar to the weatherby's or standard freebore? Thanks guys. Oh by the way ,Shawn, my smith is jack keister out at accurate arms in Virginia.

Now with the 338Edge head stamped brass Shawn Carlock is getting from Bertran Bros brass life is like what you get from 338 Lapua which 15 or more reloads primers are still good.
Using the Remington action it will take the 338Edge but will work for the 338Lapua.
For me it's a not brainer 338Edge with Bertran head stamped brass from shawn Carlock will do what you want.
IMO Charlie
+1, Especially on the new brass from Carlock, that is a game changer! Got mine a couple weeks ago

What kind of setup are you running, repeater or single shot and DBM or internal magazine? If your running DBM are you running the 3.850"? If so, did you have to modify the bottom of your receiver for proper and reliable feeding?

I have a 338 Edge with a 26"#4 Hart barrel. I have a Wyatt's extended box magazine, in a HS precision stock. The magazine is internal and it is a repeater. Personally I shoot single shot most of the time anyway. This rifle was built by Shawn Carlock of Defensive Edge and lives up to his reputation as a builder.
