300WSM Stock

Alright yesterday i traded a guy a Savage 17 HMR for a Savage Model 11 300WSM. After i get a new gun as like most people i sat around and messed with it for a while. The wife come in from shopping and i showed it to her. You know what her reply was. "It looks just like all the other ones you have". Hmmm.... that got me thinking and so i started looking around and sure enough i have about 4 or 5 other guns with the same old black synthetic stock. Well i had read an article on here a few days ago about painting your stock and never really thought about it until today when Darrin posted his picture of the stock that he finished painting. I turned to the wife and started asking her questions about how to paint the stock. She said i only design quilts not guns. Well i figured if you are a designer then you are a designer so i sat and pondered how i was going to go about it. Then it hit me. I could break off a branch of one of the evergreen trees beside the house and use that as a template to give it the more realistic look. I literally done this in about an hour and a half. Let me know what you think.

Awesome job, that looks great. Now you got me thinking about changing mine with some sage brush. Sweet

That looks very good. The main thing with painting is getting the rifle to match your colors that you hunt in. I mostly hunt among trees, so blacks, dark browns and olive drab are perfect with a little light color for what would look like light hitting a tree. Looks very good. Keep up the good work.

Nice Job sniper it appears you are somewhat creative I suggest you study up on what it takes to bed a rifle stock and the next time you have it apart do that. That way you can have o rifle that Not only looks good but shoots good also. The process is not tough to do.
