Re: 300 WSM vs. 300 WM Question

I'm liking the potential of the 300WM with the new Berger 215's (.696 G1, .356 G7 BC's).

About the time I develop a load someone comes out with the new hot thing and I just have to try it.

They would have the same bullet selection if they both had the same space between the cartridge mouth to the available magazine length.
The SAAMI SPECS are
______________300 WSM______300 Win Mag
case length_____2.090"_________2.62"
cartridge_______2.860_________3.34"
ogive room_____0.790_________0.72" advantage .07 for the 300 WSM
with a 3.600" Rem 700 or SAKO__0.98: advantage .19" for the 300 WM

In a custom rifle you can easily combine a 300 WSM with a longer magazine for shooting low drag bullets. The problem is no manufacturer offers that in a factory rifle that I'm aware of.
