300 WSM powders

My new 300 wsm is finished and a friend who shoots 1000k is working up some loads for me. So for it shoots several bullets in 1/2 inch with more than one powder. I will post the rifle specs and finished loads in a few days. Basically it has a Montana Rifleman short magnum stainless action with a fluted 1/12 Kreiger barrel. I was wondering if anyone has tried H414 or H1000 with this caliber and if so what where the results. Also , would like to know if these powders are sensitive to temperature differences.

RL22 and H4350, with SMK 190

H414 and W760 are highly temp sensitive as temps rise over 80 deg, aprox 2.5 fps per degree.

Re: 300 WSM powders

I got my 300wsm less than a month ago and it has a Broughton 5r 1/12 twist barrel. I tried two powders and checked velocity. Wasn't happy with the velocity of N-165 with a 165 BT but got 3158fps wth 71gr/R-19. Before I rebarreled I tried just about all powders for the 300wsm. I got a 2 1/2" group at 300 yds with R-19. Good enought for elk and deer. I may try some 150 gr Scirocco and 760. I think you got a great rifle and lots of luck. May want to get on shortmag.com alot of good info on the wsm and others.

H4350

You can use a slower burning powder but will NOT likely improve accuracy or velocity and WILL likely burn your throat faster.
