    well i will be using the 300 rum for whitetail and coyote....and maybe elk next year

    RockymntMt, Hit was broadside front shoulder. Distance was 310yds. Bear was a BIG bruin. He absorbed the hit turned and ran into the Southeast Alaska forest. Blood trail stopped 100yards into the forest. The next year with Noslers doing the work. Same shot setup only 290 Yds. 1 shot flop dead!!

    power300rum, If you are planning on shooting elk then you will most certinly need to go with the bigger, "slower" bullet. Elk are tough critters. They demand a top quality hunting bullet.

    So you did not recover the bear? How do you know where the bullet hit it? How do you know that you did not hit a twig or something before it hit the bear? Quite frankly, this is the first time I have heard of a Scirrocco failing to perform terminally. I have herd, and experienced rifles not liking them, but never failure. I suppose anything is possible.

    I am getting 3400 fps using Retumbo to push 180 E-Tips. I just ordered some GS HV 177's. I'm hoping for 3500 fps plus. I like the monometals.

    No I did not recover the bear. The shot was spotted by 2 others looking through binos and a spotting scope. Clear bullet path between me and the bear as he was out on the tidal flats turning rocks looking for crabs. I have since killed 3 more bears with the Nosler and all have died within 2 steps if not instantly.

    In my veiw if I do my part the bullet should do it's part.

    The Nosler hasn't failed me. The Scirroco has failed me. Simple like that.
