300 RUM vs 338 Winchester

I know these two aren't exactly comparable, but here it goes. Coming up in the next few days, I may be able to get a really sweet discount on some guns chambered in these two cartridges. My intention with this gun is to be able to take Elk or Moose, and comfortably step down to whitetail. My question is, given these two, and the ability to reload for either, which one should I go with?

The 300 Ultra is adequate for taking any of the three animals that you mentioned.

The 338 Ultra might not quite be up to the challenge of dropping those large North American whitetails.

I'd go 300.

You are looking at the 338 WM, not the 338 Ultra, correct?
