Well, I havent given up on the hope that the steel is either too hard or too soft. I should know in the next week or so. The maker is going to do a hardness test on the steel and let me know.
As far as the 338 EDGE, I dont have any first hand experience with it. I do with the 338 RUM though. My semi educated guess would be that barrel life would be a bit better due to the bigger hole in the barrel in relation to the case.
If I dont get a new barrel out of the deal, I will have this one bored out to 338 and I will figure it out!
Long range shooting is a process that ends with a result. Once you start to focus on the result (how bad your last shot was, how big the group is going to be, what your buck will score, what your match score is, what place you are in...) then you loose the capacity to focus on the process.
