300 grain SMK

Hi folk,s I need to get a throated reamer made for my .338 RUM to holdthe 300 gr SMK using the Wyatts center feed box. But in order to do this I need to know the distance from the bottom of the bullet to the start of the ogive (the point that intercepts with the rifling). The idea is I want a COL of 4.0" where the bullet just touches the lands at this length.

Can anyone help with this.

Thanks

JK

Re: 300 grain SMK

This is an easy one. If you want a reamer with that throat cut made, simply make a dummy cartridge at 4.000" oal. Then send it to Dave Kiff at Pacific Tool & Guage 1-541-826-5808. Dave is great to work with, just tell him what you want and bam it is done. Another option is to get a throat reamer in .338" this will allow you to set the throat where ever you want, it will also allow you to clean up the throat as it gets some miles on it.
