Re: 30-06 loads

there is a thread on 24hourcampfire with a lot of good 30-06 loads. i use a horn oal gauge to set my oal. i use 50.5 grains of varget and a 168 berger for most shooting in my hunting 30-06s.

I have settled on the following:

Deer, 168 grain Ballistic Tip, 59 grains RL 17, 3.41 OAL, 200 CCI primers. This shoots 5/8 to 7/8" and velocity is 3012 fps.

Elk, 180 grain accubond, 56 grains RL17, 3.41 OAL, 200 CCI primers. This load shoots 3/8 to 5/8" and velocity is 2820 fps.

These loads are right around 65,000 PSI according to quickload.

I should also mention that I hunt whitetails in western PA and long shots are not the norm at all where I hunt. I hunt elk in colorado and of coarse longer shots are readily avaliable. I am going to try changing seating depths to see if I can dial that in a bit further.

My questionis why do you not use the 180 BT it is the same bullet as the AccuBond except for the bonded core in the AccuBond.
range it,check the wind, dial in correction, aim and only one shot
