Re: 26 Nosler?
I don't have one so I can't speak for it's performance but I know that there is "NO" cartridge that will shoot flat. All bullets start dropping as soon as they leave the barrel so there is no such thing as a 400
yard bullet that has no drop.
There are plenty of cartridges that will shoot flatter at 400 yards, so we need to keep everything in perspective.
I had a 7mm STW that would propel a 140 grain bullet to over 3700 ft/sec accurately and 3800
before the accuracy fell off.
Also I have gotten the 223 WSM to over 4500 ft/sec with a 40 grain bullet as another example
but It still has some drop at 400 yards.
Weatherby did some testing for the military using a 378 Weatherby case necked down to .224 and achieved over 5700 ft/sec but oddly enough it did not shoot flat at 400 yards, and where is it now?
The 260 is the New "Designer" cartridge and it will get lots of press and hopefully it will survive
with time and may end up to be a great cartridge. Who knows.
With high velocity, barrel life and twist rates will be the main issues.
Sorry for the rant, I just wan't to warn about claims of the best ever, Flattest, most powerful,
best all around, all the words that sales like to use but can never prove.
