Re: The 25's
Whats wrong with the 100 grains? Im mainly 25 my self actually putting togeather a 25 wsm at current time. I started with 250 ai rem 700 opned up cut barrel to 20". Shot test loads with 87 gr. sierra and hornady both at 48 grains of Win. 760. Gun shot under 1" average 3/4" at 3300 plus. Killed a lot of whitetail dead in tracks. For factory gun opened up, very impressed. Then went to the whby. first one 700 trued, mcmillan stock, hart barrel, smithed by hammonds. 100 grain n bt, 100 gr. sierra fb, 71 grains of imr 4831 1/2 " groups. Killed many of deer one shot kill, for deer i cant see going over the 100 grain bullet it performed so well. I have a friend with his whbys is shooting 70 some grains of imr 7828 getting more velocity i might play with it some but my loads was worked up over 10 years ago and i havent toyed with them. Almost forgot, just for fun i had a 7600 pump in 25-06 i forgot my load data but was using imr 4831 with 87 grain horn. didnt load it that heavy being a pump but it was around 3300. Again killed a few deer with it. But in reality the 250 ai was just efficient as the 06 with these size bullets. I feel the 25 is the deadliest deer cart. around. I like the theory of smaller bullets high velocity, isnt that why Roy Weatherby became famous of believing high velocity kills. It sure worked for me. Im hoping necking this 270 wsm down to the 25 with that short fat case full of ball powder will come close to whby velocity. As soon as i get my reamer i guess ill find out.
