Been studing from this site for months now. Have been a coyote decoy & call hunter for a long time now - 75 yards & less using a 22 mag. in the woods of northern Wisconsin. I now have a piece of property that has a very large field in it 400 yards X 800 yards (60+acres).
I have a Remington 243 700 Mountain Rifle DM which has a 9.25 twist. I want to rebarrel this rifle to a 12 twist to handle lighter bullets better. I would like to use the Full Metal Jacket bullets to save on the pelt if possible, plus enjoy the target shooting and coyote hunting
out to 400 yards. I do reload. I would also be doing a trigger job on it and put a leupold vx-lll 3.5 x 10 -40 on it.
What do you folks think? This is strictly a long range target shooting and coyote rifle.
Thank you very much!!
