Ed Kenzakoski shot that group at Thunder Valley with his .308 Baer Heavy Gun and 240 SMK's. The .308 Baer is an improved version of the 300 WBY.

I was knocking on his door when I shot a 3.806" four shot group at the same range with my .338 Big Baer.

Although the 240 is a great bullet for the extended ranges, Olivealan would be better served with the 200 grain bullets at his 1,200 limit.

1200 is just a number I gave, this is my dedicated LR gun. I can't think about shooting any big game at further than 1,200 in the forseeable future but woodchucks, coyotes and such I would like to be able to shoot at whatever range I see them.
At 1500 leaving all factors besides velocity and the bullet the same the 3200fps 210 VLD beats the mk by .1moa of wind drift (10mph cross wind) but drops 2moa more, so the 240 smk wins at 1500+. Like I said I'll just order a couple and give em a whirl.

What exactly is a .308 Baer? What I have is a 300 wby, min taper, 40degree shoulder.

What powders are used in the Baer?

308 Baer is the same thing as a 300 wby improved. It was designed by Burce Baer. He calls it the 308 Baer.

Hey Joe when are you coming back to ohio to shoot? I want to see you put all 5 in the center of the target at 3.806 not 4 in the corner .

Dont make me invite Oliveralan with his 300 weatherby improved and his 240smks to show you how its done.

I'm still getting $hit about that 4 shot group.... I guess 4 in the corner at 3.806" is better than 5 in the center at 12"

We were going to come out last weekend and shoot on Sunday, but my shooting partner couldn't get his arse in gear and get his equipment ready in time.

Do I know you?

Oliveralan~

The .308 Baer is based off the .300 WBY case with a 35* shoulder and .007/" taper. We use the .340 case as it gives a slight advantage of having a longer neck after fire forming.

Powders of choice for the cartridge are MRP, H4831, and RL22.

Joe,

Thats unbelieveable shooting especially in a 4 to 5 mph winds if i remember correctly. I know you have had a year to practices I cant wait to see what you can do this year. Anything new in the works? Any new surprises your working on or bring out this year?

I don't know if I can ever top that group, even with a year to practice. Sometimes even a blind squirrel finds a nut...

I have a new combination to test... different boolets, different twist.

Same .338-.408 Big Baer, same old nut driving it. Accuracy has been similar to the combination I shot that group with, but we'll see what happens when the rubber meets the road. It may all fall to pieces way out there..

My partner has the same combination, so it'll be another " who can kick who's arse" kind of shoot..

PM sent..
