230 Berger Match hybrid OTM or Match hybrid Target
Which are you guys using, Hybrid OTM (p/n 30110) or the higher bc Hybrid Target (p/n 30428) for hunting?

We are using the OTM 30110's from our 300 win mags. They have proven to be deadly with no pencil throughs and never tracked one. All exits are 1 1/4" or bigger even at 900 yards plus. I have not tried the higher BC Targets yet. But if the targets have a slightly thicker jacket they might be a better choice for chamberings larger than the 300 win where velocities are over 3K

Sounds like a good candidate for the Targets to me. The higher MV will get them opened up good and the BC is hard or near imposible to beat in a 30 cal. If I had that kinda case volume the Targets would be for me too.

Will do, but will be a while. Reamer is still 3-4 weeks out and action won't be done until around Christmas. I think I will try the targets.

Why cant I find any 230g OTM's?? Everybody is saying discontinued? Is Berger really doing this and why?

Um Jeff you might read it again, you have a larger case than a 300 Norma

Keep in mind the animals we shoot for food and display are not bullet proof. Contrary to popular belief, they bleed and die just like they did a hundred years ago. Being competent with a given rifle is far more important than impressive ballistics and poor shootability. High velocity misses never put a steak in the freezer.
