Just my 2 cents, but IF I was going to spend the money for a barrel for competition in 500 yard shoots I would get a match grade barrel from Hart, Lilja, Krieger, Spencer etc. Not that much more cost, but normally a match grade barrel that is accepted as that.
Douglass air gauged are good barrels but not normally known as "match grade" quality. It is possible that the Douglas barrel will shoot as good as the others, but not likely. OK for fun/hunting guns but would not want to build a match gun on one of them for competition.
Finally if your comps are the type that the bullet has to be "inside the line" or you get the lower score then the 22 is the way to go for sure.
We have several guys building 22 BRs for shooting in the new IBS 600 yard matches and I think it will be a very good cartridge.
