22-250 1 in 14 with 60gr NP's???

Curious if anyone has had any luck shooting the federals loaded with the 60gr partitions in a 22-250 with a 1 in 14 twist? It shoots the 45-55 gr I have tried great with the exception of the remington 55gr SP. Just trying to find something a bit heavier that would be a possible close range whitetail round. Any input is appreciated. Thanks

The 60 grain should work but might be marginal. for 60+ grain bullets I would go with a 1 in 12
twist rate normally.

Most 22/250s shoot the 40 to 55 grain best. Mine liked the 52 grain best. so you will just have to
try the 60 grain to see. The 60 grain partition would be the best choice because of the longer body.

with a 14 twist barrel your pretty much locked in at .25 B/C or less. Try something like a Hornaday 55 grain Vmax. They seem to shoot well out of a 14 twist barrel.

try em out they'll ether shoot or not and there's only 1 way to be absolutely certain. If they don't work you can look at Hornady 55gr W/cannular. It's quite a bit tougher than the Vmax making for a really boring varmint round, but that also makes it less destructive on larger critters like coyotes and speed goats. I haven't tried it on deer though.

Ive had great luck with the hornady loads with the 55VMax's and the Superformance 50's but I just dont see them holding up as well as the partition might. I was just curious if anyone had shot any with the slower twist rate to see if I could get by with them. Guss I just need to buy a box and try them out. Thinking if I can find the right round this might be fun to take out for the late doe season at the end of the year.

there are other 60's as well the 63 sierra , and 60 grain hornady and i have some 60 berger and 60 grain balistic tip . i bet the nosler partitions shoot plenty good enough to take a doe. i would use varget first choice.
