Yeah, we tried to shoot those big 300's in a blizzard and actually got a few popped off. From what little we tested, the process of segregating and shooting the bullets of similiar bearing surface reduced the standard deviation from 10 to 5! Our group was very wide due to the Hurricane Brian mentioned, but our vertical stringing seemed to be eliminated thanks to trimming the meplats. It was hard to see through the rain and snow, but I would guess that our vertical dispersion was more than cut in half thanks to getting rid of the "hook" on the tip of the bullets.
We hopefully will get more testing done next weekend if the weather improves. We may get to take it to 2300 if quantity of ammo permits.
As for the scope, it is a Leupold vx-III Long range target that was boosted by Premier to 14.5x-35x50. A heavier new spring was installed in the erector and checked for adjustment and lash.
If it's not far, it's boring.
