165 vs 180 grn Scirocco in the 300 RUM

I'm wanting to give Scirocco bullet's a try in my 300 RUM. I've always been a fan of 165 grain bullets in the 30 caliber for deer and elk. In most situations, shooting will held to under 450 yards. A friend in the know insists that a 180 grain bullet is the one for this gun. I'd be reloading to 3250 fps on the 180 or 3450 fps on the 165. Any thoughts on the better all around weight?
