Sounds like mine is fixed and ready for more shooting. Turns out the recoil lug was bottoming out in the slot in the block. So when I tightened the action screws, it actually but a downward torque on the entire action. He fixed it an bedded it while at it. Hopefully it works good now.

I picked up a 111LRH in 7mm Rem Mag, and the barrel is not free floated...
What is a good way to widen the barrel channel on the stock? How much space between the barrel and stock should I aim for?

I am surprised that those aren't already floated, but then I don't own one.
I like to use the right sized dowel wrapped in sandpaper especially for the fore end. People use to say so a paper would slide through between the barrel and stock but that isn't really enough. I would go for 1/16" on the fore end. You can go tighter as you get closer to the barrel lug but just make sure it doesn't touch anywhere under recoil......Rich
