i have seen turrets on sale at midway usa, is that just an add on for scopes that already have such a thing or can it be added to my scope. i didnt buy this scope it was my 18th birthday/graduation present but i know that it cost around $1000 is there no way i can make it work
Unfamiliar with the scope. Someone else will have to chime in on that one.
If you ship your scope back to Zeiss they can fit it with an exposed target turret for pretty cheap. Then just find a hi BC factory load that your 7 likes and hit the range.....pretty simple really. That'll at least get you started and then you can fine-tune your equipment down the road.
I started out with a stock model 700 SPS 300 win mag and a cheap nikon monarch scope. That combo got me to 1000 yards at sub MOA performance.
Your factory 700 should easily do the same and if you get target turrets on your zeiss it'll be a great set up for you.
I would strongly encourage you to start learning about hand loading and gather up the tools. You can get started for under $200 and it's arguably the most important aspect of long range shooting. Plus the money you'll save by not buying factory match ammo will pay for all the equipment and then some.
