Re: Where to get a Mark V canted base?

I removed a set of Talley's form one of my Long action Mark V Magnums and installed them on one of my long action Vanguards. When I put a straight edge across the bases I needed a .090" shim under the rear base to get them to the same height. I know that the Wby Mark V SBGM take a set of different bases than a regular Mark V. Leupold even lists a different set of bases for Mark V Magnum and non mag calibers.

Tyler, like I said buy what you want but I would be careful and make sure the manufacturer says it will fit your Mark V.

I would sure check to see it contacts the receiver every where it should and is not being held on only by the screws.

I will have a 700 long action base here soon for Daniels new 300 build. If you want to run your rifle down we can see if it does indeed set correctly.

Jeff

It's bad weather or I would drive down there. Are any of your magnum-caliber Weatherbys unscoped at the moment? We should have the same reciever, if it fits on of yours it should be ok on mine. I could always buy and return from Midway I guess.

I do have a 80's Japan 300 I could try it on. What do you have?

We sell the Leupold MK4 bases but I recommend Badger and Nightforce. The Nightforce is just a few dollars more than the Leupold but a better base.

How do I tell where it was made? I'd venture a guess it's newer than that, it is stainless.
