Thoughts about this scope for M1A, and general opinions wanted....
Ok, so I traded my DMS-1 for a Nikon Prostaff 3-9 with BDC. I like the Nikon, but it's not quite what I want for long term (really want something with parallax adjustment, and a different reticle) . Here's my plan, yall tell me what you think, or punch holes in my plan.
I plan to use the Prostaff to test handloads and see what kind of groups the rifle can hold, and to hunt this fall. If I can get it to shoot under or at about 1.5 MOA then I plan to get one of these two scopes SWFA SS 6x42 Tactical Riflescope
or SWFA SS 6x42 Tactical Riflescope.
My goal would be to shoot 600 yard matches, but also to hunt and just do a bit of everything with this rifle.

Looks like your trying to get a lot for a little. In that case I would suggest something from the Bushnell elite tactical series the more money you can spend the better. Think about trading that scope in for something off SWFA sample list.

If it isn't glass bedded it should be. It will shoot much more accurate. A buddy has one from Springfield Armory accurized and I saw him put 10 shots in a rectangle shaped group 2 inches high by 4 inches wide. He was shooting prone at 600 yds. with military peep sights ( no scope ) at Ft. Benning, GA. The top 5 shots were in the X-ring and the bottom 5 were just below the X-ring, but still in the 10 ring. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I am looking into getting the stock bedded, or maybe even a better stock. Bedding a gun has always intimidated me, this one more than most.

There are videos and also a tutorial on m14fourm.com about bedding. What type of stock do you think you will try?

No idea on what stock I would go with. Currently it has a USGI fiberglass, if I were to change stocks it would either be a nice wooden one, or something else normal. Not into the funky stocks, the have their place, but it's not for me.
