Swarovski Laser Guide 8X30 LRF

My experience with the 8X30 Swaro. is quite a bit different from those I have read so far . I got my first one at the end of September . I was looking for 3 things : 1. Repeatable Readings taken one after the other . 2. Repeatable Readings taken from the same Place to the same Object day after day . 3. Ranging to 1500 Yards . Swaro. No.1 did not repeat on consecutive Readings or from day to day , and I'm talking of hundreds of Yards . Suggestions were : bad battery , unstable rest , intersecting foreign objects being picked up . I eliminated these one by one . I sent No. 1 Swaro to the Rhode Island Faciity . I received Swaro No.2. : Same results . By this time I was wondering what the heck was going on . I sent No. 2 back , and received Swaro. No.3 . I just completed some tests and it is working fine . Tested it on 4 different days ( both overcast & sunny ) at ranges of 1000 to about 1400 Yards ....can't find the darn data at this time . Anyway , Bottom Line : if you buy one of these Units and it does not Repeat ( or you have to hunt & take multiple shots to get a Reading .....don't give up . There are no Repair facilities in the US , but the Swaro. USA folks have been co-operative and have sent new replacement Units .

I must say your exp is different than most all I know, however that is the way it goes, some get the good ones, others the gimped ones [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img] You were probably a problem child and now you reap the reward/ punishment [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Seriously , hope you get it all straightened out as they are great units .

My dream laser range finder would be a Leica 10 to 15x 50 mm Duovid with the laser on board.

Thanks Guys .....funny thing is I never had any trouble with my Leica 1200 Scan ( good to approx. 1000 Yards )or my Tasco 800 ( good to Approx. 500 Yards ) . I did find my Data on the Swaro . Every time I form a Data Table ...it always strings out so I hope this is readable . 2 Readings per day on 4 different days ....so 8 Readings Total per Target . Target A ( Green Highway Sign ) : 1045 , 1045 , 1044 , 1045 , 1044 , 1043 , 1043 , 1045 Yards ..................Target B ( Another Sign ) : 1039 , 1040 , 1039 , 1038 , 1039 . 1039 , 1039 , 1039 Yards .....Target C ( Another Sign ) : 1381 , 1381 , 1380 , 1380 , 1380 , 1380 , 1380 , 1380 Yards ...................Target D ( Big Dark Colored Building ) : 1400 , 1398 , 1391 (?), 1402 ,1401 , 1404 , 1401 , 1399 Yards . I have not tried for Maximum Range , but one of the earlier Units was over 1700 Yards. I'm in the Northeast , so I have no idea what will happen on next years trip to the Pdog Fields out West where the terrain is vastly different .

Pdogging usually equals flat ground . That makes it tough to get a reading at /past 450 yds or so. My experience with the Swaro in Texas has me ready to put out white markers at distances throughout the pdog field the night before ,especially at 800 plus.
