Shortening scope base screw

The screws are just long enough to make the bolt more difficult to open.
I am trying to figure out how to shorten the screws that fit the scope bases on the gun and have the ability to take them off anyone ever done this? I'm using Leupold bases on a Weatherby Mark V.

Bench grinder if you have one, just grind them flat, no need to bevel the tip they will start fine.

Lacking a grinder, you can also clamp the head in a vise and use a file.

Thanks, I think I'm going to try a saw and then file it down.

If you don't have a bench grinder, hold them in a vise or a pair of vise-grip pliers and use a dremel with a cut-off wheel.

    x2

A good dremel tool with cut off wheels and sandpaper drums is one of the most useful tools I have.
