The HS stands for hunting/shooting. Some of the viper hs series has 1/4moa clicks

The Viper HS LR's have 1/2 MOA elevation adjustments. Probably not that big a deal really. Allows you to dial elevation more quickly but you do miss out on some precision that way. Worst case you shoot a 1000 yrds and one click moves you ~5". If your rifle is shooting 1/2 MOA out that far then maybe you have 1 MOA of total possible error in a perfect world. Having 1/4 MOA adjustment doesn't really gain you that much if you look at the numbers. 0.75 MOA total error. So a 7.5" variance or a 10" not counting other variables. Honestly there are so many other things going on that far out it probably isn't going to be the one that causes a miss. A wind call off by a couple MPH, incorrect BC for your bullet, a 15 fps mistake in muzzle velocity, small error in target distance or even a missed call on spin drift actually might hurt you more.

Right now the Vortex Viper HS LR is going to be around $549 for the 44mm version, $599 for the 50mm version.

Dad and I own a couple of them, but also own Zeisses with turrets. For the same price now on sale it's a no-brainer.

    This one:
Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x50 AO MC Target Turret w/#20 Z-Plex Matte Black, #521490-9920 reduced to only $599.99

    See his post here:

Zeiss Conquest Riflescope Reductions @ Camera Land

Much better in low light and the clarity is better in any light. You will not regret it for a second.
