which power scope to get

I have a remington sendero 7mm ultra and iam looking to get a leupold mark 4 i need to know if a 8.5-25 x 50 will be too much or should i go with the 6.5-20 x 50
i already have one 6.5-20 on my 6.5-284 and i really like it, but if i stretch the 7mm out will i need the extra power? iam at a loss here i was told i would have too much heat wave with the 25 power but i would think i could turn it down if it was too much, thats the reason my 6.5 wears the 6-20 cause i was worried about what i was told with the heat waves......

I have both mounted on my long range rifles. Since I'm primarily a deer, coyote, and antelope hunter I prefer the lower end of the 6.5x20 for low light, or close in shots. I find 20x to be plenty of magnification at the longer ranges out to 1000 yards and beyond,and prefer the extra field of view. Also, on the 8x25 Mk4 there is a more noticeable difference in eye relief at the power extremes.

I use a 6-24x50 (NOT leupold) I use it on 24x without any mirage problem ever. At 32x I would expect trouble but 24x is not bad at all. You do not need that extra 5x as 20x is more than enough to reach way out. Really the question to ponder is weather you want to tolerate 8.5x on the low end.

i have thought about the low end spectrum but i feel most of my long range hunting will be done at distances greater than 100 yds so i think the 8 wouldnt bother me that much,
