Re: Parallax vs Focus
Darrel...
Thanks. I'm shooting a Sniper's match in W.Va in the 17th/18th, and for the first one, I may not be ready, but I'll make the one after that if I can.
BTW... do you know the altitude (above sea-level) of the Williamsport range?
Dave...
Eyepiece focus has never been a problem for me, I've never heard it confused with parallax.
There is the belief by many (and I've heard it from military shooters also), that you can correct parallax by using the eyepiece. Very badd juju.
You live near the match... come to the Sniper's match on the 17th/18th. It's going to be a blast (HA!).
Me and my spotter are bringing two 50-BMGs (AR-50's) for informal shooting after the match, and someone is bringing a Barrett 82A. I have made a spigot adaptor thingie for the AR-50 that allows the use of either the Parker-Hale or the M14 (unmodified). They both work very well.
I'm shootin 830 grain M48's that are better than the forth of July... trace for over two miles, and a big detonation and 8 foot cloud of smoke on contact...
