Nightforce vs. U.S. Optics?

I was wondering what you guys think between Nightforce scopes and US Optics? Which is better, why, and any other experiences you might have? I am somewhat familiar with Nightforce, but I have a buddy that says US blows them away. I find that hard to believe.

Thanks

I'm have owned both and I cant tell you which is better. I think the US optics is built more rugged but it comes at the cost of weight. I like the fact the the US optics scope are hand built to order it adds a very personal touch to the optic.

Very well stated, I have an NXS but have yet to pick up a USO (much to my chagrin). The personal touch & level of user selectable options are fantastic ideas & a HUGE +1 for me. The USO i've had quoted was just over $2800 & a couple months out (IIRC). However, there are several vendors now stocking "common" configuration USO's... it's only a matter of time until one finds itself at my doorstep. I'm very interested in putting it up against my NXS.

Re: Nightforce vs. U.S. Optics?

I own four USO's and have looked thru many NFs. Glass-wise, they are the same, both very good (not S&B excellent, but right below them). What sets the USOs apart for me is two facts:

(1) you can get them custom built exactly how you want them. Lots of reticle options, lots of different tubes/objectives/knobs, etc. I really like the USO ocular lens as well, I think they are better than NF. The EREK knob is simply awesome as well, if you are shooting ultra long range, its the way to go.

(2) USO customer service. Call them up and you get to speak to the owner of the company. Have a problem, they will literally jump thru hoops to solve them. Have a question, call them and you speak to the guy that built your scope. I purchased a used USO and before buying it, I called them and they said "buy it and ship it to us and we will look it over to make sure its 100% good to go". I did that and the scope arrived back at my house 2 weeks latter with a complete bill of health. They had cleaned everything inside and out professionally. It was like I purchased a new scope after they got done with it and contractually, they didn't have to do ANYTHING on it. They did it because they have the best CS in the business.

Both scopes are tough as nails, so you don't have to worry about dropping them.

Additionally, NF only makes 1 (or 2) FFP scopes. So you are very limited in your options if you want FFP. USO will make any scope they offer either FFP or SFP. So if you want FFP, USO is way to go.

Best of luck with your optic shopping!

I think the 3.2-17 and 3.8-22 are nice power for hunting. If I was working more I would have one, just saw a 3-17 tpal in mil go for $1700 on SWFA

with nightforce, you get absolute repeatability and a very rugged scope. the USO might be as rugged as the nightforce, but not more so you don't get anything extra going to a USO scope, so i'd opt for the nightforce and put the extra $ towards ammo.

Re: Nightforce vs. U.S. Optics?

In my opinion, US Optics is WAAYY OVERATED!!!

I bought a new one a few years back & absolutey hated it - the glass was poor as best compared to my S&B scopes. I only run NightForce & S&B scopes these days.

Get the NightForce & don't look back!!
