NightForce NXS or ATACR??

Building another hunting rig and starting to look for a scope. I have and really like the NF NXS series of scopes, but the ATACR has really caught my attention!!

Guys that have experience with both, please give me your pros and cons of going with the ATACR over a NXS. Is the ATACR really worth another $500 over the NXS for a hunting scope??

Thanks for the help!!

To be fair the ATACR is about $325 more, you have to compare the zero stop model of the NXS since the ATACR only comes with the zero stop. IMHO yes it's worth the money I love mine.

The ATACR glass is awesome. Pretty close to my SB and a vast improvement from the NXS. It would be worth it to me.

    ATACR Pro's over the NXS,

30 additional MOA of elevation adjustment
Better glass that is noticeably better in low light
3x more power on the top magnification
Like the parallax adjustment a little better (quicker and no-parallax seems to be closer to perfect focus at all distances)
34mm tube and rings add clamping surface area for big rifles
    3/4" shorter than the NXS

Cons of ATACR VS the NXS

    ATACR is heavier
takes 34mm rings that are a bit more $
    $450 more money

So it boils down to do you need the added elevation? better glass? (I always have felt the NXS Glass was plenty good for my needs, but at distances way out there the ATACR glass is nice)

I have both and see it like this. If you are going ELR the ATACR is the way to go. But for the average long range hunting situation the NXS is very hard to beat. Now if the added weight does not bother you and you have the extra $$ in your scope budget, then the ATACR is a very nice upgrade over the NXS. But I am only using the ATACR on my ELR rigs.

Here is a full review I did comparing both to each other.

    Thanks everyone!!

As much as I would love to have the ATACR, I think I'm gonna stick with the NXS model - they have never let me down!!

My shooting distances will be 450 yds and less - at this range, I don't think the extra $450 will be worth it. The added weight is also a factor - its a hunting rifle that will be toted around so if I can keep it on the lighter side, I will.

Broz for the sake of argument if the atacr scope was available with the np-r1 reticle would you still choose the moar?

I would probably go with the NP-R1 , But the ultimate reticle would be the MOAR with the floating cross reduced to .062 thickness.
