Nightforce NP-R1

I think I have this figured out on using this reticle as a range finder, is this right if using a coyote factor of 10 inches. NP-R1 set on 22 X
1 MOA elevation per line.

200 yds use (is) 5 lines
300 yds use 3.2 lines
400 yds use 2.5 lines
500 yds use 2 lines
600 yds use 1.6 lines
700 yds use 1.5 lines
800 yds use 1.2 lines

Any help will be appreciated . Maybe I should that book (MOA Figures For Dummies)

Re: Nightforce NP-R1

That's very close. U can get a bit more precise by subtracting 1 line thickness, since most guys bracket a tgt. between line stadia instead of center of line to center of line. This may seem like splitting hairs but will make a geometrically greater difference at longer ranges.

Re: Nightforce NP-R1

Distance = (size of target in inches) divided by (MOA reading) times (100) times (.955)

This is what I got for your's:

moa | size/moa*100 | *.955
5............200...........191
3.2.........313...........298
2.5.........400...........382
2............500...........478
1.6.........625...........597
1.5.........667...........637
1.2.........833...........796

If your scope was SMOA (Shooters Minute of Angle) instead of MOA (Minute of Angle) you would't have to multiply by the .955

You can practice this interactively on Horus Vision's website - remember their ranging reticle is SMOA not MOA. For your's you'd still have to multiply by .955
