New Scope

So I'm considering the Nikon Monarch as a new scope.

What's got me is, the main differences between the Monarch and Monarch X. I'm actually looking at (3) different models.

Monarch 2.5-10x42 Matte Mildot

Monarch X 2.5-10x44 Matte/Mildot Reticle, and
Monarch X 4-16x50 Mildot

Now the only thing I can find that makes them different, other than the power.. which still eludes me, is the parallax settings. Both X models have it set from 50 to infinite. and the Maximum MOA... What is the advantages and disadvantages of higher and lowers MOA? and how much of a different would 100 yd parallax compare to 50-infinite ?

The Nikon Monarch X is a tactical scope with a 30mm Main Tube and tactical knobs. The Nikon Monarch is a hunting scope and has a 1" main tube with finger adjustable knobs. Big difference between the two. The high MOA's the move elevation and windage you have for longer shots.

Thanks for the info!

How do you feel about reticles?

What's the advantages of BDC and Mil-Dot, what do you prefer and why?

Would you tell us what rifle you have, what cartridge/load you will be using, and the typical distances at which you expect to be shooting?

Thanks for the additional info.

Oh yeah, I guess I didn't take into consideration it would matter.

It's going to be on my newly acquired Remington 700 7mm Mag.

I'll be shooting 140 gr. Supreme AccuBond CT

As for distances? I'll be doing target practices at about 400-500 yards, for hunting, probably no more than 200.
