New Rangefinder G7?

I have used an old Leica 1200 for a long time and have been considering a new rangefinder. I want a separate unit not combined with Binos. I do not shoot much over 800yds but would like capacity to over 1000. I have searched the archives.

Units to consider.

Leica 1600
Swaro 8x30 now discontinued.
G7

I have a couple questions. Is there anything new on the horizon? Maybe an update to the G7 or an update to the Leica. I have waited this long and could wait for an update.

Is the G7 worth the cost and size commitment?

Thanks

Re: New Rangefinder G7?

I have the G7 and can say it by far exceeds my expectations. I can leave my ballistics applications at home because i trust my G7 100%. You can program up to 5 different rifle/loads. I really like that I can actually hold the rangefinder and range out to 1300 yards without a tripod of course for precise ranges you would want to make sure it was on a tripod. I have hit trees out to 2200 yards. The ballistics program works out to 1400. The optical clarity is by far as clear as my Swarovski 15x56 binos.

Only thing that concerns me is the warranty. it is not a lifetime warranty and for paying that type of money i hope to god they will repair for free or next to free.

Re: New Rangefinder G7?

Is there any rumors of a new model of G7? Its been out for years...I actually suspect they are sitting on a new model, but wont release it until they actually have some competition. The Leica is not even close to it.

Re: New Rangefinder G7?

i dont imagine a new model coming out. about the only thing they could improve on and keep it under 2k would be the size.
