GSSP, good looking rig. The scope does look nice. What kind of bullets are you using with the 30-06 AI and what velocities are you getting with them.

Re: My IOR 3-18x42mm

The mil hash-mark retical in this scope is one mil with the power set at 10x. On 18x, the distance between 1/2 mil hash marks at 100 yards is 1 inch. 2" between the 1 mil hash lines at 100 yds @18 power. I like these nice even whole numbers when operating on 18 power. I have two of these 3-18x42mm scopes and when set on 18 power, one mil spans exactly 6 inches at 300 yards.

Good info thanks phorwath!!
Looks like the 3-18s will work out great for my intended use.

Re: My IOR 3-18x42mm

I have a question about the IOR scopes. most people buy 30mm tubes for the moa range. why doesn't the IOR's 35mm tube have more range, it says on their web site that their 30mm tube scopes have almost 20moa more. That doesn't make allot of sense to me, but then again i'm no expert.

Wildcat,

I'm pushing the Nosler 180 BT to 3050 fps with 68.6 gr of Reloader 25 in Win cases, ignited by Fed 210M, seated .015" off the lands. I hit max at 70.7 gr. This is a very compressed load. Accuracy has been 3/4 MOA out to 600 yds.

Looks great Big Al! Thanks for posting the pics.

Bravo,

They have much larger erector tubes/assemblies. Larger lenses inside for better optical performance and I believe some of the hardware required to make the 6X zoom range just physically takes up more room. It's all a compromise--you could stick 1" internals in it and have gobs of adjustment, but you may be limited to a more normal 3-9X or so power range and you'd be at an optical disadvantage. There are plenty of scopes like that on the market already.
