There is always quite a few offerings of this scope, if you watch Gunbroker.com, Ebay, and Auctionarms.com, for this item. There are enough for sale, that you can wait for a good deal.
That is how I found a great deal on the same scope that you described just recently.
I have a Vari-X III 8.5-25x40 AO, used but like new that I'm trying to get listed tonight. It might be to much scope for what you need but I thought I'd reply.
