Long range scopes, what to buy, again...

Hi

Since my budget is limited to ca $800 I cant go with the NXS I planed from the beginning.

I have two alternatives and need some input about one of them.


Since before I have a Leupold VX-III LRT 6.5-20x50 Fine Duplex that from the beginning was planed to sit on my long range hunting rigg the gun smith are building for me right now.
Mean while I have used it on my Remington 700 LTR in .223 Rem.

The build will soon be finished so I need another scope for one of the two rifles.

For the money I can byt one more Leupold VX-III LRT 6.5-20x50 Fine Duplex or get a
Zeiss Conquest 6.5-20x50 Mil-Dot.

I like the Leupold but I would prefere M1 like knobs and Mil.Dot. I live in Sweden so sending it to Leupold for a change is not an option since shipping will cost to much.

The Conquest looks good but I belive the target knobs are un numberd so one has to count all the full MOA´s when adjusting.

Can you give me som advice and imput on what to buy. Maybee I have forgotten some model worth buying?

have you thought of buying a used ior they are ahead of zeiss or leupold. i shoot nightforce, leupold and IOR. IOR make a great scope. these are great scopes for the money.

Just a thought, getting the M1 installed from Leupold..IS the shipping it both ways what is a concern. You can order the scope directly form the custom shop, have the M1's installed and only pay the shipping one way.

I do have to say I know nothing about shipping internationally and the price that gose with it.

If they can not shipp it for you, can a private citizen ship it cheaper for you..The reason I ask is I live 15 miles form Leuopld and shoot with some of the folks over there..I would pick it up and ship it for you if it would cost you less.

My personal tests w/Leupold-Zeiss-Nightforce indicates that for my eyes the Zeiss Conquest 6.5-20 optics are way ahead of the similar Leupold VX-III and the Nightforce was ahead of the Zeiss though not as far as the Zeiss was from the Leupold.

I'm not sure of the Zeiss models available where you are but in the U.S. the turrets only have one negative and that's 16 MOA per revolution. Also their total Vertical adjustment is only 36 MOA but that is quite sufficient for the cartridge with which it will be used.

The lowest price on a Conquest I have seen is just under $800.00

Thanks for all your answers. I just have to know, on the Conquest, is the turrets moa adjustment marked, 1, 2, 3, 4 ,5 ,6 and so on around the turret, or do one have to count every MOA mark to know how much its adjusted?

Edit: I found this picture and yes, it has the markings I looked for. I have decided to get the Conquest. Thanks for your advicees.
