Re: Leupold TMR Reticle for Varmints

I have both and I cannot tell the difference between the FFP and SFP in regard to line thickness.

I can try to get you a pic of a tmr reticle on a standard stop sign at 995 yards on 20x, its not a ffp scope but they should be the same size at 20x dont you think?

If that's max power on your optic then yes, at that setting you have a true mil scale.

Re: Leupold TMR Reticle for Varmints

Hey Guys,
I've been away from the computer a few days, I got a nasty case of the flu! Whew! Thanks for all of the replies! Barnesuser28, a picture would be much appreciated. Cowboy, yes I know it's pricey and I have considered Nightforce(I have 4 already), but I'm a mil/mil kind of guy, and I don't care for mil-dot reticles. And yes I firmly believe the Nightforce is a better scope, but they need to work on their mil reticle selection. I like the MOAR reticle, but I have no use for a scope with mil adjustments and a MOA reticle, or vice versa. It's easier to count by 10's than 4's, at least for me it is. But I'm just a novice at this long range stuff.

There is no basis for the notions that NXS scopes are 'better' than Mk4 scopes.
I have both and consider Mk4 superior, given that Mk4s match or better NXS in every regard(depending on reticle preference), while a pound lighter, threaded for Alumina flip-ups, and adjusting in true MOA instead of 'close enough'.

Re: Leupold TMR Reticle for Varmints

Here Leupold's manual on using the 'Tactical Reticle System'. It includes full specs for the TMR reticle.

FYI, I have MK4 scopes with TMR reticles on both my longrange rigs. Love the reticle, especially the open center. Like you, I've had other reticles cover-up a groundhog at 990 yards. With the open center, you can still see the 'hog AND still place an accurate shot.

My 260 by MCR

My 300RUM by MCR

Also, like you, I just ordered the mil/mil MK4 and will be putting it on my 260 as that rifle has become my tactical competition rifle.
