I need to decide on a scope

I have about $800 to spend on a scope. I have my dedicated long range rig which is already set up and proven out to 1700 yards. That scope is a Leupold VX3 6.5-20lr, Then I have another rifle with a zeiss rapid z 800 on it which I consider my "do all" gun. I have a very accurate 7mm though and it needs a scope. I have been considering the PST, but im not a huge fan of the big knob on the eyepiece for the illumination. I have considered trying a CDS, but I like the 30mm tubes, so I am also considering another LR Leupold but maybe a 40mm objective this time.. im just not sure. looking for some suggestions or ideas. im pretty open

Re: I need to decide on a scope

Morning Mike,

I'm running one of the 30mm tubed 40mm objective Leupy LR's on my dedicated hunting rig. I find it works quite well & it's easier to get in and out of my scabbards (backpack & 4 wheeler). I've also considered a PST but haven't done so yet, & more than likely won't... I do happen to have a slightly used (bout 50rnds) MK4 if you're interested....

Heck, cruise the used section, i've seen (sure you have too) quite a few steals on optics... you might be able to pick up another LR/T or ER/T for what you want to spend. Keep in mind, with the CDS you are limited to one rev if I recall correctly...

What kind of 7mm are you running? Shoot me some details...

For $869 give some consideration to the Sightron SIII line. They have great glass and their turret adjustments are reliable and repeatable. A couple buddies of mine swear by them and its the only brand of glass they put on their rifles these days.
