Help me weigh the pros and cons of this two optics

So I have a choice to make, I am dead set on the H59 and this optic, but its offered in two power ranges and I can decide.

The optic is the Bushnell HDMR FFP the choice is between the 3.5-21x50 and the 4.5-30x50 (new option). One side of me says 30x is just to much power and 21x is more than enough, as I have enough trouble just finding places to shoot. Rifle is currently a 264 win mag but will be re chambered to another barrel I have in 338 rum when 264 dies. Both optics have the same adjustment range

Bushnell - XRS 4.5-30x 50mm
Bushnell - HDMR 3.5-21x 50mm

I don't have any personal experience on either scopes but I like the Bushnell - HDMR 3.5-21x 50mm

Good luck!

So the power is the real question, is that why you like it the power range?

Sorry but yes ... and I've always been fascinated with the Horus reticle.

I like all the magnification I can get when doing load development, but I find myself shooting on 15x most the time in the field. You save 1/4 pound going with the 21x but if weight is not an issue and you don't lose any adjustment, why wouldn't you go with the higher power?

I love them! lots of people think they are "busy", but I have never felt that way. Its like any optic you aim at the cross hairs place them over the target and squeeze. The real advantage is in if you happen to miss, the grid essentially (a map of your target area) plots your shot for you, allowing your to auto correct on the fly and reengage as fast as your eyes and brain can make the connections.

I concur for load work up and to be honest I did not notice the 1/4 pound difference, I would say that's quite a substantial weight difference in an optic. When I spoke with Mike at CS tactical he informed me that to him the 30x looks a bit dark around the edges at 30x which concerns me he did not comment on this phenomenon presenting itself on the 21x model.
