Got my Zeiss HD5 5x25x50mm today

Fedex delivered my scope today. Its got some awesome glass for sure. I need to read the manual to learn how to deactivate the "Zero stop" for the 1st initial sight in. The turrets feel great . But not as good as an IOR I once had ? Stay tuned for more reports !

Really curious to see if the zero stop is the same as the 3-15

Re: Got my Zeiss HD5 5x25x50mm today

So I guess that little brass screw, and the pin in the black inner cap is the entire "Zero Stop " What's the "Zero stop "on a NSX look like ? or a S&B ? So do I remove the black inner cap if I want 360degrees of adjustment at the 1st initial sight in period ?

Re: Got my Zeiss HD5 5x25x50mm today

Looks pretty much like what Gary found in the 3-15. I think Gary said if you pull the vertical bar out that the pin stops against then it will run all the way up but you would not know where to stop coming back down and could get confused as to where to stop or something like that.

Post what you think.

Re: Got my Zeiss HD5 5x25x50mm today

yeah, looks the same. you will need to remove the verticle post to disable the zero stop completely.

For initial sight in I bore sighted and put the black ring with horizontal post at 90 degrees from the verticle post. That will give you 8 MOA in both directions for sight in. If you end up hitting the post anyway while sighting in just take off the cap and rotate another 90 degrees. Once sighted in remove cap again and move the posts so they touch or just a couple clicks short if you want to be able to dial a little below your zero.

You need the black ring to adjust the turret so that needs to be in there but the posts do not.

Please let us know how the glass compares to your other scopes at long range.

Good luck, I am really liking my 3-15 just wish the elevation was not limited to 16.5 MOA but I can live with it.

Gary

Are you saying remove the horizontal post on the black cap ? Does it just pull out ? I'll be going to the range in a bit. Its 10 degrees here in Reno NV. What is it at your location ? I'll be comparing the glass to my 12 year old Bushnell elite 4200 6x24x40mm.
