first or second focal plane reticles?

hello,
am trying to toss up weather to get a nightforce 5.5-22x50 with milrad turrets and mlr reticle, but what image plane for the reticle, in the first or second? what are the benefits of both, plan on using on a 7mm out to 1000m.

cheers

Re: first or second focal plane reticles?

Do you plan on ranging and/or holding off with the reticle?
Or do you intend to laser range and/or dial corrections?
Will you be shooting relatively large killzones, or small?

Any advantage follows your needs met.

Re: first or second focal plane reticles?

Go second focal plane, 1/4moa adj, CH1 reticle.
This will perfectly meet your needs

The advantage of the 5.5-22x is a huge adjustment range, and it's very accurate.
The CH1 is a med-fine crosshair that's perfect for the field.
1/4moa adjustment is finer than 1/10MIL.

Re: first or second focal plane reticles?

Also NF does not offer the 5.5-22 in FFP anyways. They only offer the 3.5-15F1 in FFP.
