I feel like I should know this but here goes...Do you have to choose scopes according to calibre?

No, but there are scopes specifically for rimfire rifles. This is because of the normally 22lr short ranges, rimfire scopes will typically have parallax set at 50yds; centerfire rifle scopes will have either adjustable parallax or will be set at least 100yds. Also, pistol scopes will have a longer eye relief than rifle scopes.

I think that is what threw me, how many types of scopes there are. Thanks for clearing that up.

It really just comes down to what is your application with the setup. Are you going to use it for Tactical, Bench-Rest, Hunting, and How far are you going to shot it. Why it would be nice to know the caliber is so you can get a scope that will last or not be overkill.
