That is a personal preference that is different for allot of people. I use 24x for 99% of my shots and the remaining 1% is purely theoretical as it has never really happened other than at the range to verify scopes point of aim is the same. For close quick shots I could shoot both eyes open on six or even ten power just fine. Train with you specific equipment and you can use all sorts of gear in ways someone who does not train thinks is impossible. At 1000 yards I love every ounce of magnification, I have a 4x fixed that I can shoot to 1200 and stay in the vitals but the results are not the same as my 24x and the point of aim is not as specific because I simply cant see my target as well with the lower powers............ The same is true at 100 yards. I can make a good group with a good set up and low power scope but the same set up and a high power scope will net smaller groups. The bench rest crowd figured this out decades ago. If long range is your priority, then quality crisp magnification is your friend. In either case, which ever way you go... Anybody know on what mag the 2.5-16 is true mildot? Not that it realy matters I guess. Think im leaning towards this model now as it sounds like you can do good enough with this amount of mag.

O yes up to what range would you normally see a bullet hole? Im thinking it would be nice to use the scope as a spotter as well.

I love the 4200 series scopes great optics. I have a 2.5x16x50mm 6500 its glass isn't as good as the 4200 series. I had that exact scope and I couldn't get rid of it fast enough. Blur at 30x,poor glass. I'd look at a 6x24 S3 Sightron in that price range.

Well I bought the 4.5-30 at the end. Clarity seems ok up to about 24x
I just hope it tracks well.

What bothers me is the crosshairs seem very light and dont stand out black further up the lines. The mildot section of the crosshairs seems darker although still a bit light.

Im also worried about the tactical turrets being so exposed, dont know if Ill be walking in the bush with this kit.

Bushnell didnt even include a lens cloth in the box the cheap skates. And realy bikini scope covers? I mean for the price these days how much will flip up lens caps cost them to add?

Anyway thats me as long as it holds its zero and can track properly Ill probably be happy.
