Bushnell elite 6500 tactical 4.5-30x50 MD

Hi Guys,

Ive searched for this scope on this forum but dont find much. Im strongly leaning towards this scope but for me its a lot of money ($800 bracket). But it looks so versatile being able to go down to 4.5mag should I ever go into the brush.

What I would like to hear from you is this overkill, is this realy neccessary for long range? I mean I might be happy and good enough with a vortex viper 6.5-20x50($460) And is mildot reticle the right choice for LRH?

Optics are something that I believe you get what you pay for.........No experience witht the Elite 6500, but I have a couple of the plain old elites in 3-9x40 and they are good glass for the money.........That being said, if you have $800 to spend, this might be a better deal to look at:

Zeiss - Camera Land NY

Go down towards the bottom and look at the Zeiss conquests 6.5-20x50 for $789. I ordered one of these last week, and it looked like it was brand new. Heck of deal on a good piece of glass.

I run the 6-24x50 4200 bushnell elite and in my opinion better value than a comparably priced zeisse and I only payed $550 and $512 for the two I use.. I don't think it's overkill but allot of the 3-9x40 crowd will disagree. I have herd the 6500 series is as good as the 4200 that I use with the exception of the 4-30x50. People say the high magnification in that particular scope is not as good. I like the vipers to at $460, but if you can do $800 you can find a viper pst or sightron SIII lr Moa reticle for that much money. I would spend it if you can. Just my opinion and as always against the grain..........Ah hell it is what it is.

Can't comment on the 4.5x30-50, but I have a 6-24x50 4200 Elite Tactical turrets and it is better optically than my Leupold Mark IV's. Pretty good scope for the money.

Hi, I was in the exact same boat as you. I was looking at the Bushnells and for the price I went with the Vortex Viper with Mil-dot for less money. The vortex seems to be coming on the market with long range shooters quickly and I like there VIP Life time warrenty. For the money you were going to pay for the elite, you should try the Vortex PST, better glass etc. Plus some of the models are a little less wirh an EBR-1 reticle. I can get them a little cheaper through my business. I would stay with the 4.5 magnification for the closer shots and I think in my own thoughts that 16 is plenty for longer range depending on how far you are going to shoot. Anything beyound that maginification I would then look at Ziess, March, US Optics, Nightforce for better optics quality but be prepared for $$$$$$. Just my own 2 cents. I will try and put something on here when I get my Vortex in. The reason I did not go with the PST right away is I got the Viper at a good deal below my cost so I am going with it.

Thanks for the reply guys. I guess im just held up by the fact that the bushnell can go down to 4.5 mag and the vortex starts at 6.5 which will be too much for close range.

Is there any other scopes I dont know of that also starts with a very low mag and goes up quite high?

On what mag setting do you guys usualy use your scope for the long shots?
