I thought one .25 moa click at 100 yards was one quarter of an inch and one .25 moa click at 200 yards was a half inch then one click at 300 is three quarter of an inch per click then at 400 each .25 moa click on the scope in reality moves bullet impact by one whole inch per click and continues growing at a quarter inch per hundred yards??? This is the way I've learned moa system. At 800 each click moves bullet impact by 2" per click and at 1,000 each click moves bullet impact by 2 1/2" per click. Please guys correct me if I'm wrong.
You are correct, but it is the same with Mils. 1 click at 100 / or .1 mil at 100 is .36" with MOA it is .25"

That same click at 1000 yards is 3.6" with mils and 2 1/2" with MOA.

With MOA it is .25 moa per click with Mils it is .1 mil per click.

Quarters or tenths but adjusted the same with mills being a slightly larger unit of measure.

Ok that's what I thought. So a random shooting solution: target is at 700. Scope is .25 moa. Ballistic program shoots out a 15 1/2 moa correction. How many clicks? Each click at seven hundred would be 1 3/4". So would I just dial 15 1/2 on the knobs or is the 15 1/2 moa correction need to be multiplied by 1.75? Am I going too far into this? Surely I'm breaking it down too far?

Like I said in the earlier post. Yesterday I shot a coyote at 715 yards. My ballistic app told me to dial 12.5 moa. My turret on the NXS scope has 10 moa in one revolution. So I dialed 10 ( 1 rev) and on to 2.5 for a total dial up of 12 .5 moa. Forget converting it to clicks. The turrets are numbered in 1 moa increments. Each moa is also broken down in .25 moa's. So as per your above example of 15.5 moa you would dial 15 plus 2 more clicks to be on 15.5

Yes, I think you are taking it too far and making it way more complicated.

Go with mils as mentioned earlier. With a mil based spotter it is ment to be.You both read corrections the same. That is how the military does it.For me one rev gets me to over 1000 ,depending on scope.I favor the slightly courser adjustment. 750 for me is 4.5 mil.Which is a easy dead hold on my reticle that goes to 10 mil.

Thanks guys. Any recommendation on nightforce reticles? Both mil based and moa based. What is the best in both?
