will this work.

will my ruger m77 mark 2 vt .308 work good for 300-400yards?

Yes.

If it shoots around 1/2 MOA it will work at much longer ranges
800 to 1000yrds with the right bullet.

Somewhere around 160 gr bullets should do it.

For hunting 400 to 600yrds I would go a little lighter and faster
for best results.
