What is your farthest kill with a 6.5 cartridge?

Curious as to what bullet you were using at what speed?

Will the VLD's work out past 900 yards out of a 260 or 6.5-284?

Anyone use Swift S2's?, SMK 123's or 142's?

Nothing long but I killed a whitetail doe quartering away at 175 yds with a Sierra 140 gr SBT mv 3200 fps. Bullet entered right at the back of the ribcage and penetrated through the ribs on the offside shoulder and made a golfball diameter hole in the off shoulder. Bullet was not in this hole, I'm assuming it fell back into the chest cavity. This doe dressed probably 50-55 lbs and I would have expected an exit with that bullet. Deer only ran about 30 yds but I wonder what performance would have been like on a much larger deer.

I have an 8 twist barrel put back for a future build, thinking a 30" 264 mag and will probably use the 140 gr Berger or JLK VLD for deer size game. I too am curious about long range performance results of this type of bullet.

Longest with the 142 SMK is under 400 yards.
Furthest was with the 140 Berger (600 yards Mulie).
MV's ran from 2725-2775 fps
140 A-Max took a whitetail at around 360 yards.

I have a couple deer over 600 yards, with a 260ai and 140 a-maxes, total of 15 with that bullet and gun, and all were one shot kills. Only had one bullet brake apart, on impact with the shoulder knuckle of a mule deer.

My son's elk, 6.5-06, 375yrds, 130g Swift Scirrocco, @2950fps, through both big front shoulder bones. Retained 82%.

My hunting partner's mulie doe, 570yrds, 6.5-06ai, 110g GS HV, @3450mv, high lung shot.

The two longest 6.5 cal shots that I have been around.

I killed a chuck just shy of 1k with a MCR 6.5-284. I know kevin has killed them over 1K with the same gun.

He used 140 gr amaxs I believe.
