Weather@Walden, Colorado

Well in one week I will be in Walden Colorado for my elk hunt with my "New to Me" 300 winchester Sendero rifle. Our season opens on the 3rd of Nov. Has anyone hunted the earlier seasons? Is there any snow? Are the elk up high yet or are they starting to move down? Hey thanks for any info...

i was hunting near there about 2 weeks ago. during the day it was warm enough to hunt in short sleeve shirts and shorts, but druing the night it was getting below freezing. the last day i was there it had cooled down quite abit and snowed 4-6". Elk populations were the best i have seen in the last 10 years but deer was the worst in 10 years.

i used to guide for deer and elk over there for a few years so if you need any quesitions on the area just drop me a line.

elk hunting out of Hayden

Just got back from Hayden. The elk were in full migration. We were hunting at 6700 ft. We had herds with over a hundred animals come through on Sun and Mon of the 2nd season. Then the weather got better and they stopped. We had a great time. We had 7elk tags 6 deer tags and 3 antelope. We got them all. With a 31 and a 1/2 inch buck. Dropped my bull in its tracks at 531 with my 7 stw in a rifles inc with a vari 3 with the turrent. Good luck
