smithy AT-300 LATHE/MILL

Does anyone know anything about this lathe model? I have a chance to pick this up from a guy whos is moving away at a great price. I want to use it to learn some basic gunsmithing like action trueing, chambering and threading barrels, etc.. Would this work?

Re: smithy AT-300 LATHE/MILL

Just relaying one not so cheap lesson I learned. Combo lathe/mills usually do a poor job at both turning and milling. I am not saying you could not do gun work with that particular machine as I have no experiance with it, but doubt that it as rigid as I would like. That said I have seen some great work done on some smaller machines, my limited skills apparently take bigger machines.
