re: Slob hunters
I am apt to take the philosophy of WildRose on this one. Disengage, gather information, and call law enforcement.
"Yes Game Warden dispatch I am in need of assistance. I believe my kids and I am in danger. I was out hunting and shot an elk while hunting with my kids. We were in the process of tracking and recovering the elk to meet the legal requirements of immediately tagging a game animal. While in the process several unknown men started to point their rifles at us from a close distance. I have no reason to believe the rifles were unloaded. I have no idea what their intentions are. Are they trying to shoot me because I was successful with getting an elk? I donít know. Are they purposely using a weapon likely to cause death or severe bodily injury to frighten me away from an elk I am legally making an attempt to tag? I donít know. In either case I would like to make a formal complaint and pursue charges for these acts. My kids and I have a legal right to pursue and legally tag game animals without being threatened by these actions. Can you please dispatch a Game Warden or other law enforcement officer to assist. Thank you, I know my kids will feel much more comfortable knowing their safety is in good hands with your law enforcement officers. I will be at this location waiting by my truck. If the situation changes I will call you back immediately. Additionally here is my cell number."
It can be this simple, stack the odds of recovering the animal and discouraging unlawful behavior in your favor all the while staying safe.
